New year is up and running. 2023 has begin with a bang. Even thou there is no big news around Trimble Business Center there is lots of training going on to get ready for the summer season.

Here is the best of the January and February from our Instagram. Its just and office picture since where I am it gets quite cold so more work in side.

Do not forget to check out the Instagram for weekly pics from my survey journey. You can find us @prositeconsulting.

As someone who has spent years working in the surveying industry, I have always been fascinated by new technologies and innovations that are emerging. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of different groups and communities that are dedicated to exploring and discussing these new developments.

Towards the end of 2022, I received an exciting opportunity that took my interest in new technologies to the next level. I was contacted by a few companies that were based on the other side of the world, which meant that communication and coordination took some effort due to time zone differences. However, the more I learned about these companies, the more excited I became about the potential of our partnership.

I am thrilled to announce that I have now become a survey equipment dealer for two companies: EFIX Geomatics and SINOGNSS. These companies are at the forefront of innovation in the surveying industry, and their product lines cover not only surveying but also machine guidance, agriculture development, and many other areas.

Working with EFIX Geomatics and SINOGNSS allows me to stay on the cutting edge of technology and to offer my clients the latest and most innovative solutions for their surveying needs. I am confident that this partnership will help us all to achieve even greater success and push the boundaries of what is possible in the field of surveying.

As someone who has always been passionate about exploring new technologies and pushing the limits of what is possible, I am excited to be a part of this exciting new venture. I can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us in the future!

C5 Rover/Base

Introducing the Small but Powerful EFIX Rover/Base C5

If you are looking for a rover/base that is small but powerful, look no further than the EFIX Rover/Base C5. I had the opportunity to test this out over the past few weeks and I have to say, I was very impressed with it.

One of the things that stood out to me was how easy it was to set up. I was able to get it up and running in no time at all. The precision was also top-notch, which is important when it comes to surveying and mapping.

Despite some unfavourable weather conditions during my testing, the EFIX Rover/Base C5 held up very well. Its compact size made it easy to transport and set up, even in less-than-ideal conditions.

Overall, I highly recommend the EFIX Rover/Base C5 for anyone in need of a reliable and compact rover/base. If you would like more information about this product, please don’t hesitate to contact me. https://prositeconsulting.ca/products/

We will see you soon at the next edition of our newsletter.

As the year 2022 comes to a close here is the final newsletter on this year. At the beginning of this newsletter experiment I mentioned to be an occasional one and here we go number 8 is out. In a few days we will reach 2023 and I cant wait to see what the survey world will brig to us.Did you know we are on INSTAGRAM ? check it out and subscribe to us @prositeconsulting.

Done for the day !

This picture with over 500 likes is one of the favorites on the platform and with the caption “Done for the day !” you certainly have to like it ;o).

Trimble Business Center we have seen quite a bit of stuff with the release of version 5.80 and month later version 5.81. I guess there was a mishap with the printing of true type fonts on version 5.80 which affected lots of us. But only a month later and me redoing all the sheets to printable stroke fonts we got it fixed. Many of you reverted back to the older version until the fix of version 5.81 came. The update was another surprise because it came as a major update with a massive download of 6.6GB.

Now it would not be right to say that there were many improvements which will make our routines easier and better. Mainly the startup time has significantly gone down which everybody appreciates.

opening TBC v5.81 on my computer

Truth to be told I have got myself an early Christmas present, I have build a new beast of a computer. Yes feel free to be jealous.

Trimble Dimension has come and gone. I did not make it this year but heard it was a blast. If you had a privilege to have been there hope you enjoyed it.

We got a new receiver called R780 with the precision 8mm H/15 mm V with 336 Channels

https://geospatial.trimble.com/products-and-solutions/trimble-r780#product-downloads

Here are some specs from Trimble’s web page:

  • Trimble Maxwell™ 7 GNSS ASIC: Track the latest signals from all GNSS constellations with EVEREST™ Plus multipath mitigation, interference detections, and protection against GNSS spoofing.
  • Trimble ProPoint™ technology: Constellation-agnostic, robust positioning engine enables greater accuracy, reliability, and productivity in challenging GNSS environments.
  • Trimble TIP™ technology: Survey faster with magnetically immune Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) based tilt compensation that helps you quickly, accurately, and safely stake out or measure points without levelling the pole.
  • Trimble CenterPoint RTX: Receive GNSS corrections wherever you are via satellite/IP with unrivaled speed and accuracy for a PPP solution.
  • Trimble xFill® technology: Reduce downtime in the field with continuous RTK coverage during correction outages from an RTK base station or VRS network.

In conclusion we had a great innovative year. Cant wait what 2023 will bring. So I want to wish everybody a great and successful new year.

Newsletter #007

Back after a busy season, as I stated before this is an occasional newsletter. Fall is in the air and the construction season is slowing down as well as temperature in going down.

Do you know that I am on Instagram ? If not check me out @prositeconsulting and following you will find the most liked image from past for 90 days.

When life gives you rainbow do some surveying !

Trimble Business Center not much news there I believe we are all waiting for the Trimble Dimensions where from history we probably can expect new update. Let see what happens on November 7-9.

You guys know I am big fan of Trimble and there has been quite a few news in regards of the hardware. Last time we took a look at the new Trimble R750 GNSS receiver. If you have watched news Trimble has announced on September 20 2022 new Trimble Ri robotic total station which “offers multiple configurations to meet diverse set of workflows” as per their news release.

Here is a screen shot from Trimble’s website. I this its sexy but that is just me.

Trimble Ri

On another software note Trimble has acquired B2W and that means coming upgrades to the takeoff module.

Also Trimble has invested into CIV Robotics which makes me exited on what is coming to the survey layout improvements. I can see this being big in the dirt industry! Check them out @ https://www.civrobotics.com/.

In closing to all Canadian friend happy thanksgiving and have a great long weekend.

Hi all SiteMODZ folks. We got through another month of surveying and modelling out there. Mid summer and construction is booming since especially here up North is the season to be working hard.

I personally had a few crazy (actually two) weeks. Everything went sideways and the worst thing is I did not do a great job. I did half ass job on few models and it made me feel very unprofessional. Between work and family sometimes it is hard. There is more and more information I am reading about burning out and seems to find myself almost there. But remember the important thing is to brush up and pick yourself up.

This months most favourite picture was a TSC7 with Trimble S5 total station from one of my jobs house excavation layout.

“Another house done! Beautiful scenery and even better weather!”

This month i would like to highlight the Trimble R750modular GNSS receiver. Seems that we are all going mobile. This receiver includes integrate LTE modem so this is all in one solution for your internet base station.

Modular meaning that you only need to purchase the options you need and you can scale at a latter point. I love this since it can keep its price down.

Here is the link to the product page : geospatial.trimble.com/Trimble-R750

So to wrap it up stay healthy and safe out there. Be aware of potential burnout and do not half ass the jobs you get, it just going to bother you going forward.

Newsletter #004

April 2022

Another month has passed and here is a April 2022 version of SITEMODZ newsletter.

I have posted a meme on our Instagram on what everybody think about the next evolution of survey profession. So what is you take on it drop an idea in comments and check out the Instagram ans sign up ;o).

Since this is a Linked In out Trimble Business Center group has grown and almost reached 1000 members. Currently we are 994 so soon. Lets keep the conversation going.

Since the new season start we need to check our equipment so we can deliver the best and most precise work out there. I have posted few YouTube shorts on those subjects. They were surprisingly popular. Thank you all for that. If you would like to check them out: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlxFfFoOe88SAaoP4RseHCs4fvPenYGl Hoping to add more as we go and as the time will let me. Stay tuned and off course do not forget to subscribe!

As some of you know I have started to learn to draw in Trimble SketchUp. its quite different drafting program but I find it easier to draft up the foundations for houses and or buildings. I have caved in and purchased a pro version so I can export my design into Trimble Business Center. Since the construction season has started its harder to find time for messing around and getting my skills better. I have few videos up on the YouTube.

What is Leica AP20 Auto-Pole ? Well we all have took advantage of the tilt compensation on our GPS where it is becoming more and more of a standard. As people are upgrading to new hardware the tilt compensation is build in. Now Leica has took it to the next level. The have implemented the tilt compensation on the total station front. It is in the way of the AP20 AutoPole.

Leica AP20 AutoPole - Survey Instrument Services

This is a little add on which would make your life easier. It also measures the height of the pole so eliminating the mistakes of the changing pole height and forgetting to adjust it in you settings. In addition it also adjusts tilt so no need to look at the bubble every time.

This is the part of the improvement I can get behind. I assume as the technology improves it will get smaller and lighter. Its current weight is 0.5 Kg and as all of you know between controller and this add-on etc pogo weight etc. Cant wait for other manufactures to catch up ;o).

Above is a snipped of our web page and there is major change on the menu instead of “Contact US” we have renamed it to “Work With Us”. In the spirit of cooperation we have made the decision to change the working. So if you are in need of any training and/or design for your teakoff needs or grade control needs please go there and contact us. We would love to work with you.

Lastly as promised from last time here is one from the field which was the favourite on our Instagram which you have already signed up for right.

As usual when I can I have my trusty companion with me. Hope it will make you smile !

Well this is it for this time. Do not forget to spread the news and visit out sitemodz.com for all the other papers.

As spring approaches snow melts and mud comes out. Another example of surveyors going up and above their job.

Trimble Business Center news, there is not much news since there was no update to the software at all. There are few new videos uploaded the most favorite one is posted below. There were few questions on the Youtube which I have answered and hopefully helped the people asked the questions.

The video is about how to create contours in TBC and my favorite function where you can colour the contours by elevations. If you like the video do not forget to subscribe.

Our YoutTube channel has grown to over 400 subscribers. Thank you.

Another milestone is almost reached on our LinkedIn Trimble Business Center group. We are currently at 960 members soon to be 1000 ;o) So if you have not signed up do so. We have pinned a post asking what would you like to see in TBC next.

Newsletter #002

Hello and welcome to the second newsletter of this year. It is crazy to think it was already few weeks since I had posted the first one. As always will try to keep it short and sweet.

It was overwhelming, the great reactions to the name SiteModz. Thank you all for the support. Comment and let me know if you have ideas what would you want to see in the newsletter.

This months meme was : I am a Surveyor

I did not expect so much negative backlash on the few platforms. I guess there is lots of so called surveyors which are not proud of going up and above their job. Though people are proud of their professions, oh well we all have different opinions and since you can be anonymous on the internet its easy to be negative. Just want to say this was meant to uplift the profession and make people proud of it.

Trimble Business Center news, there is not much I have posted few videos and there is one which was helpful for lots of people and got few great responses. During the development and updates there is lots of commands added and thus some are pushed off the ribbons to make place for new ones. No need to panic they are there and hidden so video was all about how to access them.

This months highlight is for something I have enjoyed following for a while. And as a father its great. The page is “Get Kids into Survey” great comic book to start educating your kiddos about survey. We enjoyed reading it. Check out the page and drop them a line, off-course do not for get to mention Matus sent you.

Get Kids Into Survey - Inspiring future geospatial experts!

So I guess this is it for the first one. Keep on plugin away and do not forget to have fun. Off course if you need help with TBC or any king of modelling check out our social page for all the links you need: CLICK HERE

Newsletter #001

Welcome to my newsletter. I wanted to take advantage of this new feature on LinkedIn, that is why I have chosen once a month to start and we will see where it goes. I understand that we are all busy and that is why I will try to keep it short and sweet.

Why SiteMODZ you ask. Well keeping it fresh and young ;o) mine and many of yours main stream of work is modelling sites whether it is for takeoffs or actual site development. During this time [winter] there is much more modelling going on for takeoff quantities. So everybody is keeping busy by bidding jobs for early spring and summer. At least here in Alberta Canada this is the way. [yes I am a Star Wars fan ]

Off course there is going to be lots of Trimble Business Center stuff since that is my forte but eventually I would like to review other software and hardware!

January 2022 brought us few minor updates of Trimble Business Center and they were in v5.60.2 on January 14 2022. As I have mentioned on my video and in my blog they were TID log in and pushing the data into works manager. Small bug fix but if you started to utilize the TID functionality after last update for your setting and templates this was huge.

This post about how I feel sometimes, due to the task I am asked to do did gain lots of traction and lots of comments. Quite few of them funny. My favorite is :

"On a job site once, I was asked to repair the photocopier because "... you know computers and sh*t""

All I got to say is the profession is so misunderstood. Anyway at least we can have fun and if you wondering he did fix it.

So I guess this is it for the first one. Keep on plugin away and do not forget to have fun. Off course if you need help with TBC or any king of modelling check out our social page for all the links you need: CLICK HERE

See you next one Matus
